Privacy policy

Last updated: 27 June 2026

CineCircle helps you pick a film to watch together. You can use it without an account; this policy explains what happens to your data when you do create one.

Who we are

CineCircle is run by Jasper Ikink. For any privacy question, email jasper@missiemaker.nl.

What we store

  • Without an account: your name, genres, services, lists and taste are stored only in your own browser (local storage). We never see them.
  • With an account: your email address, and the data above (name, favourite genres, streaming services, saved & seen films, ratings and taste), so we can sync it across your devices.
  • If you tick the optional box at sign-up, we keep your email on a marketing list to send you updates. You can unsubscribe any time.

Why, and the legal basis

  • To provide the account and sync your data - performance of the service.
  • To learn your taste and personalise recommendations - legitimate interest.
  • To send marketing emails - only with your consent (the opt-in).

Where it lives & who processes it

  • Supabase (EU region) hosts the account database and authentication.
  • Google is used only if you choose “Sign in with Google”.
  • TMDB provides film data and images. Vercel hosts the app and provides cookieless, privacy-friendly analytics.

Cookies

We don’t use tracking or advertising cookies. Sign-in and app state are stored in your browser’s local storage because the app can’t work without them; analytics is cookieless. So there’s no consent banner.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, or to stop marketing emails, at any time - just email us. Deleting your account removes your stored data.

Changes

We’ll update this page if anything changes, with a new date at the top.
